Great. Horrible news and added fuel for the Gator haters.
Top-ranked Florida could be without one of its best pass rushers against No. 2 Alabama in the Southeastern Conference championship game.
Defensive end Carlos Dunlap was arrested early Tuesday and charged with driving under the influence, just days before the biggest game of the season.
“We are aware of the incident and are currently gathering more information,” coach Urban Meyer said in a statement released by the school.
It might be an interesting year for the Gators basketball team...they look to be much improved from last year.

Finally, Florida might be back. The Gators' two-year drought of NCAA appearances after a remarkable two-year run as NCAA champs may be over. Florida had an impressive week with a 16-point win over rival FSU, followed up with a three-point win over No. 2 Michigan State at the Legends Classic in Atlantic City, N.J. The Gators then beat Rutgers rather easily for the championship. That gives Florida victories over the ACC, Big Ten and Big East.
Florida blew out Kentucky 41-7, but the real story was the loss of Gators QB Tim Tebow, who was knocked out of the game with a nasty concussion. The CFN writers give their thoughts on where Florida might go from here if Tebow is out for any significant length of time.
University of Florida football head coach Urban Meyer announced the five players who will serve as the Gators’ captains during the 2009 campaign. The captains were voted on by their teammates.
They are...

Urban Meyer: It all starts with the boss. He recruits the players. He coaches them up. He is the face of the program (just don’t expect that face to ever agree to a “Risky Business” photo for anyone again). And don’t forget UF president Bernie Machen in this equation. When Steve Spurrier was the popular choice among Gator fans, Machen pushed for the hiring of Meyer, who was the football coach when Machen held the same position at Utah.
Tim Tebow: He might finish his senior season with the title of college football’s all-time greatest player. Potentially, he could move on to the NFL with two Heisman Trophies and three BCS national championships. Even if he doesn’t win a Heisman or the BCS this year, No. 15 already belongs in the G.O.A.T. discussion. And yeah, he gave a speech people probably will be talking about for some time.
Brandon Spikes: The defensive version (and numeric palindrome) of Tebow, No. 51 turned down likely first-round NFL dollars for the potential to be a part of something very special at the college level.

Per MSNBC:
As Tim Tebow and the Florida Gators prepare to make a run at their third national title in the last four seasons, the defending champions have already made some history.
Florida is No. 1 in The Associated Press’ preseason Top 25 released Saturday, followed by Texas, Oklahoma, Southern California and Alabama. But the Gators are in a class by themselves, the most overwhelming preseason No. 1 in the history of the media poll.
Florida received 58 of the 60 first-place votes, or 96.7 percent. Texas got the other first-place votes.

Florida quarterback Tim Tebow has a Heisman Trophy, four championship rings and more accolades than most college football players could ever imagine.
He wants more.
According to ESPN:
A new six-year, $24 million contract for Meyer was finalized Monday, taking his total financial package to $4 million per year and making him the SEC's highest-paid coach in 2009.
